Bath Win Comfortably but…………

Ian Cooper led a much changed Navy side @ the Rec and despite a committed personal performance was unable to stop the home side scoring a comfortable 77 – 7 victory.

However there were some positives for the loyal band of Navy supporters who were vociferous through out the match.

Sam Davies – before he was forced off mid way through the first half Sam’s work rate in a rear guard defencive action was excellent. He will be at Twickenham next week as part of one of the sides (Senior’s or more likely CS U23s) and this will round off an excellent season for the U23 centre.
Jonny Stephen – good to see Jonny back in a Navy shirt following his PTI qualifying course.
Josh Terry – returned to the team having been forced to miss the RAF match due to work commitments and on this run certainly enjoyed stretching his legs to remind those who watch Navy Rugby what a strong broken field runner he can be.
Hugo MItchell-Heggs gave a good rounded performance in the loose even if some of his set piece played showed how little time he has spent with the squad.
It was also good to see Stu McLaren get some more much needed game time in to his legs. This charge came towards the end of the match where he had worked himself almost to a standstill.
Jack Foster came off the bench and gave the travelling fans something to cheer about. Starting on the half way in front of a glum looking Bath United coach (Danny Grewcock)
He left a couple of Bath defenders straggling as he cut inside for the Navy’s only score.
Going under the sticks to make the conversion easier.
Tom Davies, who also had some good touches during the evening, landed the conversion.

Full image gallery will be up on the site in the next couple of days.  Army v RAF tomorrow and a big day for Navy Referees.
