Navy Referees (Day Out)

Navy Referees for the Army Master v RAF Vultures match – Welshy Edwards, Jane Pizzi, Duncan McClement, Ian Seaton and Gaz Fairbairn

Navy Referees ensured that the Senior Services’ white ensign was prominently on display at yesterday’s Army V RAF Inter Services day of rugby.

Duncan McClement in action in the first game where the Army with comfortable winners over the RAF.
Navy Match Officials for the Army Women v RAF Women – Stu Collins, Andy Harrison, Geoff Howells, Si Aldridge, Dave Prentice

Geoff Howells – over seeing the women’s game. As with the first match the RAF were unable to compete with another strong Army Women’s team who continue their unbeaten run in the Women’s Inter Service tournament.
RFU up and coming referee David Proctor took charge of the main game supported by Andy Coles and Steve Woolley as Assistant Referees and Geoff Howells and Ian Seaton as Number 4 & 5.
David had the closest of the three matches to officiate with the RAF taking the game to the Army in a feisty and fully committed encounter that (rightly) saw a number of yellow cards issued.

On completion of the game Stephen Woolley was presented with his Referee Colours by the Army Rugby Union’s Chairman Major General Shaun Burley CB MBE

I thought all the officials worked well together and can take huge credit for three well managed games. The banter amongst them both between games and in the stand showed great team spirit and I was pleased to be included.
    Well done Lady and gents

John, Its not often you get a whistle of referees together in such numbers, so you get a degree of confidence and bravado as they nearly outnumbered the teams. Geraint

Well done the team for a great day of rugby, none of the officials made the headlines just facilitated rugby which is the way it should be. Thanks to Geraint for you time.
