The Navy Sharks made a very promising start to the 2013 Sevens season at Manchester last weekend.  An opening 26-12 victory over Leeds University was followed by a narrow loss by a single score to Saxons (10-5).  The Sharks finished their group with a comfortable win over Huddersfield University.  However despite the 40-0 scoreline the Sharks were pipped to a place in the main draw by Leeds University who nicked a 28-26 win over Saxons.

The Plate Quarter final was against Otters and another Navy win (12-0) meant a semi final against Manchester University who were despatched 25-0.  The final was another close affair at at full time the Sharks narrowly missed out to Hull University 17-12.

Overall a very promising first outing for the Sharks who can now look forward to building on the experience at the Rugby Rocks Sevens, Richmond June 1.

My thanks go to Lee Crabb of Scrumpix for the use of the images.  Lee is a regular on the touchline at Service rugby matches and has some  rugby images on his site including from the Army Navy match.
