5 Jun 2013 Seahawk Down. McLaren Powered Cdo Logs Capture Sevens Crown by navyrugby | posted in: 1 Navy Rugby Latest | 0 HMS Seahawk’s four year unbeaten run was emphatically ended by a strong Commando Logs side at the 2013 Navy Rugby Sevens, held at Castle Cary RFC. Navy Sharks player Josh Blackburn lead from the front all day as Cdo Logs finished unbeaten in their group before beating Sultan 33-12 in the quarter final. In the semi final HMS Drake often found they were chasing shadows. and strong running from Will McLaren allowed Cdo Logs to ease to a 27-0 win. Seahawk were the opposition in the final and it wasn’t long before Cdo Logs set out their intent. again McLaren’s strong running proved to be a handful. however he wasn’t alone in being focussed on leaving the Seahawk defenders in his wake. In particular 2012 Brian Weeks Trophy winner, Toots Vakalutukali, was at the heart of all of CLR’s creative play and regularly opened up the Seahawk defence. It was fitting that Mclaren crossed for the last of CLR’s tries in they comprehensive 45-7 win The trophy was presented by former Navy captain and Selector, Mike Connolly to Josh Blackburn and the Cdo Logs Regt team.
